About This Ministry
Strengthening women in faith, fellowship, and service to God and community.
The Women’s Fellowship of the Rev. Friedrich Monninger Congregation, Akosombo, was formed during the early years of the church’s establishment in 1962 under the leadership of Mr. S. K. Bampo, the first Catechist of the congregation (1962–1969). Since its formation, the Fellowship has remained one of the strongest pillars of the church, contributing immensely to its spiritual growth and development.
In its early stages, the Akosombo and Akwamu branches of the Fellowship operated under the Anum District, within the Mamfe-Akwapem Women’s Fellowship Division, with the late Mrs. Rebecca Akoto serving as president.
The group was officially inaugurated on 6th June 1965 by Mrs. Janet Kumi, then President of the Akwamu–Anum District Women’s Fellowship, assisted by Mrs. G. L. Addo and Madam Janet Owusu.
A significant part of the Fellowship’s early growth was guided by Mr. and Mrs. Agyarkwa (both of blessed memory). Mr. L. A. Agyarkwa, a former Senior Presbyter of the church, supported the group through attendance at conferences and leadership guidance. His wife, Mrs. Sophia Agyarkwa, became the first President of the Women’s Fellowship, serving faithfully for 18 years.
In December 1969, the group presented a pulpit to the church — an early sign of their commitment to supporting church infrastructure and worship.
